My Story
I earned my Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees at the University of British Columbia.
My most memorable speaking engagement to date was a keynote I delivered at AdTech where Google invited me to speak about revenue generation as a content publisher.
In addition to creating websites and managing online marketing programs, I have also developed and helped grow some of the most active affiliate programs on the Internet. I am privileged to have spearheaded the affiliate program launch for Symantec, a global leader in cyber security. With over 40 online stores worldwide distributing Norton Security products, this was definitely the most significant affiliate program I have helped establish.
While in graduate school, I started my first company and began managing websites and e-commerce initiatives for small businesses. In between lab work and completing my Master’s thesis, I was a marketing strategist and gaining clients like the Canadian Federal Government.
My online journey started while I was studying at the University of British Columbia. A new technology called email was just emerging. After obtaining my first email account, friends and classmates would email one another at all times of the day. It was truly an amazing thing.
During my University career, I would concentrate on school work by day then switch hats and begin coding and optimizing websites by night. Infoseek was a popular search engine and SEO was in its infancy. Many sleepless nights would be spent optimizing and re-optimizing my website to stay in the #1 position for “internet bookstores”. It was an incredible rush to outrank Amazon, Chapters and all major bookstores at the time. I soon began to learn the art of converting visitors into sales and was rewarded a commission with every transaction I brought in for Amazon. Being one of Amazon’s early Associates gave me my first hands-on experience with online commerce. Those were memorable times. It was also the start of my journey into the deep learning of search engine optimization.
Currently, I live in the suburbs of Vancouver, British Columbia with my wife and 2 daughters. For the last few years, I have been coaching my daughter’s basketball team and have fallen in love with this sport all over again. #basketballneverstops
